The Remains of the Corps by Will Remain - why I write under a pseudonym

The fictional author of The Remains of the Corps is Will Remain. A pseudonym is a time-honored literary device. In this case, though I am the behind-the-scenes author, the story is best told by a member of the Remain family -- in this case, Will Remain, the grandson of Kenneth Remain, the protagonist of Book I: Eagle. Will is a third-generation Marine and Vietnam Veteran. Remain is an anagram of Marine. In my next post, I will provide detailed background information on The Remains of the Corps.

The Remains of the Corps - why the first 30,000 words?

I am an accountant by trade, but a novelist at heart. For the last three years, I have been working (yes, it is work! . . . really hard work!) on my novel The Remains of the Corps: A United States Marine Family History: A Trilogy: Book I: Eagle. Sure, I could have waited a couple of years until I finished Book I to publish, but it's a different publishing world out there. E-publishing, and its immense low-cost distribution network, allows an author like me to showcase his work-in-process to anyone who might have an interest -- at an incredibly low price to the reader. The most valuable aspect of publishing in advance is to obtain feedback. I want to hear what you have to say. I don't have a particularly leathery integument, but the end product can only be better off for having listened. In my next post, I will explain why I write under a pseudonym.
